Posted on
wetsuit hanger guide 1

As with many things it’s the little things that count over time and with wetsuits it’s no different. If you want them to last you’ll need to wash them after every use. When you hang out to dry a regular hanger just won’t cut it. So what’s best with so much choice?

Getting your hands – or wetsuit – on a good wetsuit hanger will make a big difference in the long run. Let’s look at some of the best tips you can use to choose the right wetsuit hanger for your needs.

6 Tips for Choosing the Right Wetsuit Hanger

1. The Wider the Better

A wide wetsuit hanger makes a big difference, especially if you use a larger size wetsuit. You want a hanger that can handle the size of your wetsuit without it being hard to hang up your suit.

2. Consider the Weight of Your Suit

You want to choose a wetsuit hanger that can handle the weight of your wetsuit. Don’t forget, when you hang it up, it will be wet. Your suit will weigh quite a bit more, so make sure you get a hanger that can support the weight.

Going along with the first tip, choosing a wide wetsuit hanger allows you to spread out the weight across the entire hanger. This helps to keep your wetsuit in better shape and ensures the hanger can support the weight.

3. Consider a Vented Hanger

With many wetsuit hangers, you’ll hang your suit folded over at the waist. However, with the right vented hangar, you can hang your wetsuit from the shoulders and it will dry properly. In some cases, it can even dry faster, with the right hanger.

4. Look at the Design of the Hanger

Some wetsuit hangers look much like a traditional clothing hanger, which is fine. However, when you choose a hanger that has one side open, it can be easier to slide the wetsuit onto and off of the hanger.

This tip is a bit more about personal preference. Neither type of wetsuit hanger is wrong, but one might fit your preference better.

5. Make Sure it’s Heavy Duty

The right hanger for your wetsuit, especially if you’re a full-grown adult, should be heavy duty. It should provide the ability for you to hang your wetsuit and not worry about it falling off or breaking the hanger.

6. Consider How Often You’ll Use it

If you plan to hang your wetsuit often, you will want a good wetsuit hanger. Buying a cheap hanger labeled as a wetsuit hanger will only send you back to the store to get another one a few months down the line. It might also cause you to be annoyed every single time you hang your wetsuit.

For those using their wetsuit occasionally, a less expensive wetsuit hanger might be fine. However, the best wetsuit hangers available are not very expensive.

When you’re trying to take the best care possible of your wetsuit, make sure you get the right wetsuit hanger. You want to hang it properly and make sure it will dry properly after use.
