Welcome to GET FOAMIE!
We provide soft top surfboard reviews, buyer guides and other information all about our favourite type of surfboard – the foamie!
We also review wetsuits and surf accessories, and we’ve got a thing for surf art too.
As soft top surfboards have become so popular over the last few years there’s been an explosion of brands jump on the bandwagon and now we have so many options to choose from – some good and some bad.
With so many softboards available but with limited quality information available, I started this site to help surfers of all levels to navigate the field and decide which boards are best for their needs and their money.
Our aim at GET FOAMIE is to be the number 1 independent resource for anything softboard and wetsuit related:
- Hands on In-depth Reviews
- Buyer Guides & Research
- Industry News
Sign up to our email list here for content updates.
Our reviews were initially undertaken by a bunch of friends of various surfing abilities who ride a wide variety of boards both short, long and in between.
We now get user submitted reviews from surfers all around the world which is amazing and every review helps add to to this resource.
So, Be a legend and give us your own review on any Soft top surfboards or wetsuits.
I started surfing as a teenager and once I caught the bug, I caught it bad and surfing became a total obsession. During my 20’s I really didn’t think about much else – always planning the next surf trip and chasing that elusive idea of the perfect wave and surfing as a perfect way of life. I could never really find what I was searching for…
When I got married a few years ago and we had a child, I naturally had less time to surf and priorities started to shift. I began surfing less and less, life got busy and I was always making excuses why I wasn’t surfing. I felt a bit jaded by how busy it always was in the surf so when I did get out in the water it was generally hit and miss and not as enjoyable.
Somewhere along the line I jumped on a soft top (perhaps a little late on the bandwagon) and had a blast! I was really impressed with how well it went, how easy it was to get more waves and how good it was to not give a shit and have fun again surfing! Long story short, the softboard reignited my faded passion for surfing.
I hope you get something out of the site!

Hi Ant and the getfoamie crew.
Love the site, really useful source of foamie info!
I’m looking for some info on the Softech Inner City Beater (5’4) that i picked up recently. I love its wave catching abilities but would love to hear what fins others have used in them and what volume this little nugget packs in? I know they’re discontinued but would you consider doing a review?
Many thanks for your feedback – I’m really happy to hear you’re liking the site!
I can’t find much info on that Softech Beater model, but from the looks of it I’d guess the volume must be about 35L?
Not sure how I could get my hands on one to test out but if you were willing to provide your thoughts on the board that would be awesome and I’d gladly post your review on the site! Send me an email if interested: firstname.lastname@example.org
It’s more like 43 litres from the soft tech specs
