High quality, lightweight, warm and stylish – Vissla Wetsuits have consistently delivered great wetsuits since the brands inception in 2013. As one of a few avant garde surf/wetsuit companies such as Matuse that have risen to power in the 2010’s, Vissla’s wetsuit line has continued to grown in popularity year on year and for good reason.
They have established themselves as key players in the wetsuit industry that has been long dominated by the mainstream surf brands.
This review will look at the wide range of men’s suits available from Vissla: The 7 Seas, High Seas, North Seas and Premium Japanese range.

User Reviews
“I can honestly say that the 7 Seas is one of, if not the best suit I’ve worn, and I’ve burnt a bit of rubber along the way.”
“The first impression of the Seven Seas is that it’s more stretchy than you’d guess for a suit in this price range…..It’s flexible throughout but notably more stretchy in the shoulders than just about any suit under $300.”
“The inside of the suit has a great liner from the ankles up to the chest. The chest area and the back panel of the suit use what Vissla calls their “Thermal Brain Fuzz lining” which is a little more plush than the lining that runs through the legs. This material works to keep you toasty and feels pretty cozy”
“One of the best parts of this model is the internal taping. Vissla has internally taped all the seams with the Seven Seas and even added a few extra reinforcement patches over key stress areas and the cuffs. This isn’t typically seen in this price range and it really puts this suit at a higher level than its competition.”
“While this suit doesn’t have a smooth skin panel in the chest, it allows Vissla to use larger panels of neoprene. That’s fine by me since less paneling = less stitching issues and more flexibility.”
“The overall fit of the suit is true to size and pretty standard compared to other wetsuit brands. It’s not a super wide or a super narrow cut and falls somewhere in the middle. So for the average guy, it’s an easy fit”
“A suit this good for $330? Get in the back of the wagon. It has a really great balance of flexibility and warmth, has great attention to detail like taping around the cuffs and has a full 1-year warranty to back it up as well. As an all-rounder, it’s hard to beat”
2. Vissla Wetsuits – High Seas
The High Seas is a step up from the 7 Seas Range, a high performance wetsuit which is more lightweight and flexible without sacrificing warmth. Chest zip and no zip entry minimize bulk while maximizing the suits elasticity and water-tight capabilities.
The High Seas is available with a zip free option along with a chest zip wetsuit, and is available in 3/2 and 4/3. All the High Seas suits are lined with a fleece lining.

User Reviews:
“To summarise my thoughts on the North Seas suit; it genuinely is warm, light and flexible. It feels good to wear. I like the way that it looks. It has kept me warm through an entire winter of freezing cold east coast surfs, and will do so for another winter, if not two. It is reasonable priced. To be honest, I can’t really fault it. If you are looking to invest in a top line winter wetsuit for the 2018-19 season, you could do a lot worse than looking at the Vissla North Seas suit.”
“Best suit I have owned. Warm, flexible, easy to put on and very durable. Seams and cuffs are holding up well after a year of use. Comfy lining! Vissla booties are awesome too!”
“My first Vissla wetsuit. Seams are high end, Fit is excellent, quality construction. Compares nicely to high end O’Neill or Xcel wetsuits. The smoothy top is very fragile and will tear with fingernails! Easy spot repair with neoprene adhesive, but not great to be babying your everyday wetsuit. If you buy a Vissla do not get the smoothy option.” (***note – Vissla even specifies on their product description: BLK colorway features Smoothy panels on back and upper chest. Please use extra caution when putting on and taking off wetsuit. Also of note the warranty on seams and neoprene is 1 year but smoothy material is 6 months and does not include punctures from finger nails/incorrect care )
4. Vissla Wetsuits – Premium Japanese Wetsuits Range
Vissla collaborated with premium Japanese wetsuit makers to offer some of the best neoprene in the business. While polychloroprene (neoprene) is normally made of petroleum through a chemical process, their Premium Japanese wetsuits are made of limestone sourced in the Kurochime Mountain area of Niigata, Japan.
These suits cost a pretty penny!
