Almond Surf R Series New Model 2020

Posted on

UPDATED May 2020 – The new model has been revealed and we were right – it is the The Almond Surf R Series Pleasant Pheasant! See more details here.

Almond Surfboards have been teasing the release of a new R Series model to be released shortly!

The existing boards in the Almond Surf R-Series have been super popular over the last few years with many happy customers praising the fact that they surf really well – somewhat closing the gap between foamies and their fibreglass counterparts.

I have a R Series Secret Menu myself (full review to come – have not been able to surf it of late due to the COVID madness) and can say it looks slick and is really fun on the water. Personally though, at 5’4″ I feel some extra length could come in handy getting into waves, paddling etc.

The new model might be just what I’m after…

The details at this stage are scant but what we know so far:

  • 6’4″
  • Something special going on with fin/fin boxes: “We have some exciting things in the works related to the fin”.

My best guess is that it is an R Series version of Almond’s Pleasant Pheasant. It comes in 6’4″, it’s one of their most popular boards and it has a 2+1 setup, so it would make sense that the mysterious fin announcement has something to do with a bigger centre fin. In terms of foamies this type of fin setup is quite rare and would make it pretty unique. We’ll be waiting for further updates from Almond!
