Xcel Infiniti Comp 3/2 Wetsuit Review
Reviewed by: Gerome
Wetsuit Materials: Neoprene (limestone based)
What we like: Lightweight, quality construction, colour design, affordable price point.
What we don’t: It’s comfortable and flexible but noticeably less so than more expensive suits
Rating: 8/10
What does Xcel Say?:
IDEAL WATER TEMP: 55˚ – 64˚ F (12.8 – 17.8C)
INFINITI – IDEAL CORE HEAT PRODUCTION
MATERIALS – Featuring Xcel’s all-new Channel Flex Exterior for a weightless feel and unrestricted warmth. Radiant Rebound, Xcel’s metallic technology, in the upper body that utilizes a metal lining under the textile that blocks cold temps from penetrating the outer layer and reflects heat generated within the wetsuit back towards the body, keeping you in a constant state of warmth. A plush Thermolite lower body with 100% Ultra Flex. Eco-friendly Nanoprene Lite Japanese Limestone neoprene is limestone-based with unrivaled memory and rebound that is lighter, warmer, and softer than the average neoprene. Soft, eco-friendly and anti-fade dope-dye yarn and a durable glide skin collar that creates a watertight seal to prevent flushing.
DESIGN – Engineered fit system which fits like a second skin. A semi-dry zipper with a magnetic closure to keep water out and back knee flex grooves that prevent bunching.
CONSTRUCTION – Triple glued and blindstitched seams provide a water-tight seam construction where foam edges are glued multiple times before being slammed together creating air/water-tight seal, then stitched a quarter way through the foam to give it the strength needed. FusionX tape on the seams is the next generation of precision tape technology, applied by a machined heat-pressure process that bonds tape directly to suit ensuring maximum seam durability while eliminating the need for excess glue that causes irritation. Eco-friendly water-based glue provides premium durability and bonds while being environmentally conscious. Nexskin wrist and ankle seals minimizes flushing.
Key Features:
Xcel’s Infiniti range is slightly more budget friendly range (40% cheaper than a Drylock) whilst retaining many top end features like stretchy aerated V-Foam, Thermo Dry seam tape and the grippy X2 Front Entry System.
Overall this is a well designed suit with all the key features you need in a mid range wetsuit:
- Limestone based Neoprene
- Flexible and lightweight
- Taped seams
- Easy chest zip entry.
- The blue arms are a nice touch!
How Warm is It?
It’s a 3/2mm and works well for NSW winters! I purchased it in Hossegor France when I was there a few years ago in the spring (15-20 degrees celsius water temps) and it was great for those temps too.
Comfort / Flexibility and sizing?
Comfortable suit but nothing special. Flexibility is great but as expected it’s not the same as top of the line suits.
MT fits me well at 189cm and 78kg.
Below is the Xcel Mens Size Chart:
What do you think of its construction quality?
Construction quality is good, this suit has taped seams and fairly stretchy rubber so it’s a great step up from a entry level suit.
How has it held up over time?
I’ve had it for a few years and It’s probably been used for about 100 days. I’ve used it in France and Aus and lent it to a few friends and it still has lots of life left in it.
Your thoughts on the price and value of the Excel Infiniti Comp 3/2?
I think I paid around $300 (AUD) for it so I would say that’s fair but it wasn’t an amazing deal or anything.
Final Thoughts and Rating
I would rate the Excel Infiniti Comp 3/2 an 8/10.
I’ve been using a Ripcurl Flashbomb lately and it definitely has better flexibility and the quick drying liner is a nice touch. It also retails for almost twice as much so you I think as always it comes down to you get what you pay for.
The Excel Infiniti Comp 3/2 does a good job for its intended purpose as a mid price point and quality wetsuit.

I have several Xcel wetsuits, love them all. Drylock, Axis, AxisX and came to this page for the Infiniti review. I look forward to picking up my first 4/3 Infiniti. My regular suits are simple Axis or Axis X suits. I am a bigger guy so I love that Xcel makes the XXXL sizes. Warm with a good fit but I look forward to the front zip to prevent that back zinger. SoCal water is far from warm. Good flex and food warmth. The DryLock is a bit tough to get into. Hope this eliminates that.
